Our work process

To create a great solution, meet your requirements and maintain focus, we use the following approach to the development process. It is divided into 4 important phases. Time spent on each step varies depending on the scope and complexity of the desired solution, and we may slightly adjust approach if necessary, but this is what you should expect in terms of the process.

We pay very close attention to capturing and analysing requirements, as well as ensuring effective communication – so that there’s no chance for this happening.

We split any project into 2 parts – “Blueprint design” and “Development”, and treat them as separate projects with their own budgets and timelines, just taking in the account that one should follow another.

* Total budget= blueprint design budget+ development budget

Phase 1 : Blueprint design

This is the phase when we all meet together as a team (including you as a customer) and discuss what actually needs to be done. If taking a web site as an example, it would be identifying pages hierarchy, content of each page, layout choice, what information should be stored on the back end and how it should be collected, what happens when a user clicks a particular button, whether we need to import any data from an existing web site, etc.

This is where we conduct a detailed analysis on each requirement, and it’s where we need your participation most. The more information you can provide at this stage, the more we all can be sure that the final product will meet your exact needs and that we can do our best at providing recommendations.

The output of this phase is the blueprint of exactly what you want us to make for you. Here’s what it usually contains:

  • Functional specifications: a document or set of documents outlining detailed user stories from functional perspective – so that it’s clear what happens in each and every part of the project. Example of a user story: user logs in to the site, navigates to Messages section, sends a message to another user; another user logs in to the site and sees this message in the Inbox section.
  • Non functional specifications: a document or set of documents containing descriptions of all other-than functional requirements – design requirements (eg. color scheme, layout choice), set of wire frames (black & white schemes of suggested user interface), etc
  • Decision on the most suitabe technology platform/tools for the project – content management system choice (Drupal, WordPress, DNN, etc), programming language choice, hosting platform choice, etc
  • Fixed estimation on development budget and timeline
  • Other items specific to the project

There is no obligation to continue with the development part of the project at any specific time, or even with WaveTekk. Regardless of whether you choose to conduct the development phase with WaveTekk, or some other company, you will already have a solid plan and Blueprint for development.

* Blueprint design phase should be fully prepaid before it begins.

Phase 2: Development

This stage is an iterative process consisting of delivering a piece of functionality for your review, getting feedback, fixing bugs, and performing enhancements. It repeats itself until desired functionality is achieved.

Sometimes, you may realize that you need a certain feature only after some functionality is already in place. We try to foresee such requests in Blueprint Design phase, but it is not a problem if you come up with some enhancements or changes in the middle of the project. However, please note that all such additional requirements will be treated as change requests, and thus will be billed separately.

* We usually ask for 20-50% down payment depending on the size of the project.

Phase 3: Final Delivery. When the output product has been tested to meet all your requirements and after the final payment has been received, we will deliver the completed project. The deployment process can be conducted by either WaveTekk or one of your IT professionals. In this phase, we also provide trainings and documentation on the final product.

Phase 4: Support. We will be glad to support your project after it’s launched. If this stage hasn’t been included in our development agreement, we can create an additional agreement to come up with terms and conditions of the product support.
